JOHN CURTIS AWARDS

6 MONTHS FREE TRAINING - WITH PAY - FOR THREE NEW GAS ENGINEERS

Are you an aspiring gas engineer looking to achieve CORGI registration sooner rather than later ? If so, do you have what it takes to convince the Selection Panel that you deserve one of three JOHN CURTIS AWARDS ?

What's on offer ?

Successful candidates will receive 6-month FREE traineeships, with pay, to full ACS level in all aspects of domestic gas work - including boiler servicing, Gas Safety checks, new heating installations and boiler replacements. On successful completion of the course - which will include hands-on on site work supervised and directed by a Birchcroft CORGI Registered engineer - the trainee will be ready to apply for full CORGI registration in his or her own right.

Where will training take place ?

The Award winners will be selected from applicants and nominees who have already achieved qualifications in associated trades to CORGI's Level 2 requirements (EXAMPLE: NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing - or City & Guilds equivalent). Existing proven record of working with gas is NOT required.

How will the winners be selected ?

STAGE ONE: Candidates must first complete the official Awards Application Form and provide a written submission to explain why they are applying.

STAGE TWO: Short-listed applicants will be invited to the Birchcroft Training Centre for a multiple-choice test and practical assessment.

STAGE THREE: Selected finalists will attend informal interviews with the Awards Selection Panel - who will choose the three most deserving candidates as the 2006 Award-winners.

Why "John Curtis Awards" ?

The Awards are being made in memory of John Curtis, who founded Birchcroft in 1986. The Awards scheme is part of a Birchcroft Training "Getting to Grips with Gas" [3Gs] initiative to help develop a new generation of Qualified Gas Engineers for the industry.

Will the trainees receive pay ?

Yes. They receive weekly pay at standard industry rates for NVQ Plumbing Level 2 - and will normally qualify for some paid holiday.

What happens at the end of the course ?

Each John Curtis trainee who has successfully completed the course will receive a Birchcroft "3Gs" Diploma - and the outstanding candidate will receive the Birchcroft "3Gs Trophy".

Birchcroft will assist all three with their CORGI Registration - including paying their initial registration fee. Birchcroft will also help with job placement for them to begin their career as a new Qualified Gas Engineer.
