Company Health & Safety Policy

It is our policy to ensure the Health, Safety, and Welfare of all employees, visitors, contractors, and others who may be affected by BIRCHCROFT MECHANICAL LIMITED's operations. To that end, BIRCHCROFT MECHANICAL LIMITED will apply suitable and sufficient measures to comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, its subsequent extensions, and related regulations.

The Managing Director is responsible for maintaining a Health & Safety management system, with the responsibility for implementation being delegated to the Supervisory Management. Competent assistance is provided by Practical Safety Solutions Limited.

The management system will include an appropriate regular forum for the discussion and communication on health & safety matters between the management team and all employees

BIRCHCROFT MECHANICAL LIMITED will provide appropriate employee training to ensure awareness of this Policy, and the effective application of Company procedures that give effect to this Policy. A copy of this Policy is made available to all employees, contractors and others as required.

The Company will:-

  1. Undertake suitable and sufficient assessment of risks, and implement control measures to reduce those risks to an acceptable level. Risk assessments will be updated as circumstances change
  2. Provide appropriate work equipment, safe systems of work, work instructions, training, and supervision, to ensure that employees can effectively & safely utilise the items provided and the procedures implemented
  3. Ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the safe storage, handling, use and transport of hazardous substances

Employees & Sub-Contractors will:-

  1. Comply with this Policy, to safeguard the Health & Safety of themselves and others affected by their actions
  2. Cooperate with the Company in the implementation of this Policy
  3. NOT interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interest of Health & Safety
  4. 4. Use Company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and other items as identified by risk assessment

The Company will assess the effectiveness of this Policy via internal and, where appropriate, external auditing to be carried out by competent persons at regular intervals, and will provide sufficient funds and resources to implement and maintain an effective management system.

The Policy will be reviewed and revised when necessary to take account of changing conditions, and in any case not less than once every 12 months
